The ministry of road transport and highway released shocking reports on road accident in india in their annual report titled ‘ROAD ACCIDENTSIN INDIA -2022

india witness 53 accident and 19 deaths every hour, or an average of 1265 accidents and 460 death daily due to road crashes last year.

as per the report , a total of 4,61,312 road accidents have been reported by states and union territories during the year 2022 which claimed 1,68,491 lives and caused injuries to 4,43,

BIGGEST REASON

Over speeding accounted for 72.3 percent of the total road accident ,71.2 percent of total death ,72.8percent of total injuries

driving on the wrong side was the second highest cause of the total road accidents in 2022

ACCIDENT ON STRAIGHT ROAD

As per the data , 67% of total accidents occured in straight road

this is four times the total number of accident that took place on curved road, road with potholes , and roads having steep gradient combined [ 13.8 percent]

Most collision classifies as ‘hit from back’

ACCIDENT IN DAY OR NIGHT?

Almost three fourth of all accidents and fatalities took place in day ‘ clear weather’

accident under adverse condition such as rain , fog, accounts for just about 16.6% of total road accidents during 2022

2 WHEELERS OR 4 WHEELERS ?

A total of 63,115 accidents involving two wheelers . these led to 25,228 deaths.

Cars and pedestrian saw the next highest number of accident , at 29,005 [ 10,174 deaths] and 20,513 [ 10,160 deaths ] respectively .

STATE WITH HIGHEST ACCIDENTS ?

Tamil nadu reported 13% of total accident which is the highest

And the next spot was Madhya Pradesh
